Tarfside to Edzell.

The walk will begin at grid reference 471 786 on OS Map 44. Along the Glen Esk road. 

The walk will begin with a short walk along a minor road and a bridge over the North Esk. This will take us through Dalbrack farm and up on to the hills. 

We will follow land rover tracks up to West Wirren at 628m. Then over to the Hill of Wirren at 678m where we may find some scattered remains of crashed aircraft from World War Two. Then continue the journey to East Wirren at 639m.

From there we begin our descent following land rover tracks down to Hill of Corathro through Margie farm with a short walk along a minor road to where the bus will pick us up at a picnic spot just along from Edzell Castle at Grid Reference  577 688 on OS Map 44.

Approximately 20km of walking taking around 7 hours including breaks. 

Due to the myriad of tracks and paths around the Wirren hills there will be no shorter route on this walk.

Bus will leave Gordondale Road at 07:00 Saturday 11th October.
