Saturday 17th February 2018 Walk host: Ken Neill
8am departure Email: stocketshost@gmail.com
Cost: £15 Tel: N/A
Map: OS sheet 30 Mob: N/A
Expected time back in Aberdeen: 7-8pmpm

Main Walk: 20km (12.5 miles), walk duration 5 hours plus stops

The walk commences at a large lay-by on the B9031 road bend just west of Afforsk (NGR 788 635). From the bus, cross the road and head NE'wards down a wide track towards the ruin of St John's chapel on a shelf overlooking Gamrie Bay. Before reaching the chapel, a path heads downwards to the beach to cross below the cliffs to the outskirts of Gardenstown (Gamrie).

If the tide is out we walk back through this arch and another two to return to Aberdour Bay. If the tide is in, we skip this bit, as it involves clambering over rocks completely covered at high tide. We walk up the small road to join the B9031 to walk into New Aberdour.

Alternative Walks

This is a through walk. Anyone wanting a shorther walk could be dropped off closer the end. This can be agreed on the day
