Sat 9th Feb 2019: Fife Coast / Elie Chain Walk

Saturday 9th February 2019 Walk host: Liam Naughton
7am departure Email: stocketshost@gmail.com
Cost: £15 Tel: N/A
Map: OS sheet 59 Mob: N/A
Expected time back in Aberdeen: 7-8pmpm

Main Walk: 18km (11 miles), walk duration 6 hours with stops

One of our ever-popular coastal walks, this time a return to one last done in 2009. No hills and a chance to try Scotland's only via ferrata (iron way in Italian). We have timed it to coincide with low tide, avoiding wet feet....

This chain assisted coastal scramble can be avoid by staying on the beach, or by sticking to the coastal path on top of the cliffs.

After the excitement, the walk continues to follow the signed coastal path through Elie and St Monans to Pittenweem.

Several descriptions of the chain walk can be found on the web e.g. https://jamescarron.wordpress.com/features/elie-chainwalk-step-by-step-guide/

Alternative Walks

This is a through walk. It may be possible to drop anyone wanting a shorter walk closer to the end. This can be agreed on the day
