Welcome to the website of the Stocket Hillwalking Club

The Stockets are a sociable group who go hillwalking throughout the year, generally in the Grampian area and other hills within a day's travel of Aberdeen.

In normal times, the Club runs a monthly day walk on a Saturday or Sunday, using a private hire coach, which allows for 'through' walks, starting and finishing at different places. Typically between 15 and 25 go on each walk.

Owing to Covid restrictions, the programme has been severely curtailed since April 2020, through a few events were possible Sep to Dec 2020. The club will advise members via email as soon as any relaxing of restrictions allows walks to resume, initially using our own cars, and perhaps later in the year by bus.

We have published a tentative programme of walks for the current season. All events subject to prevailing Covid restrictions. If you are interested in coming along on any of them then please view the walking page for more information.

The winter walks usually cover 8 to 10 miles while summer walks tend to be longer to make use of the daylight hours available and are generally between 15 and 20 miles. An alternative route following a shorter lower walk is generally available. The Club also organises weekend meets and a variety of social events.

By providing a choice of two walks the Club aims to cater for a range of fitness and ability, but all get together on the coach and during the pub stop on the way home.

You don't have to be a member to give us a try - you are welcome to come along on one or two walks as a non-member to see if this is for you. If you wish to continue walking with the Club after that, we would expect you to join.

For further information, please contact a member of the Committee who will be happy to help.
