www.invergarrylodge.co.uk

A return to the excellent bunkhouse where Tony celebrated his final Munro last year. It gives access to a wide range of hills from the Nevis Range to Glen Clunnie. Leaving Aberdeen by car on Friday evening (or earlier) we will meet up in the bunkhouse in time for a nightcap. Walks will be organised on the Saturday and Sunday. Please book with Elaine by 11th September (preferably sooner) and agree your contribution to Saturday night’s feast.

Practical Information

Transport is usually organised by car and lifts which can be arranged by contacting Graeme Duncan  or by speaking to another participant. The more people share a car, the more economical it becomes for everyone.

Accommodation is usually in a hostel or bunkhouse. Traditionally, a Stocket week-end runs as follows.

Friday evening

Departures at various times with a stop for food on the road if not taken prior to departure. Once everyone has congregated, discussions and arrangements ensue as to what hills will be climbed the following day. Most people arrive with some ideas and various parties are formed to suit these plans. If anyone feels unsure about any proposed walks he/she can be assured someone will assist; you will not be left to fend for yourself unless you want to be. Following night caps, cocoa etc. people retire to bunks for a reasonably early start the following morning.

Saturday

After breakfast, the various parties set off for their day. More often than not there is a semi-official  walk assisted by well experienced members. If anyone feels unsure about any proposed walks he/she can be assured someone will assist; you will not be left to fend for yourself unless you want to be.

The  evening meal on Saturday is usually eaten in the bunk house, depending on the facilities available. With time, it has become a communal affair with participants contributing by bringing a  dish  prepared either in advance or on the premises. You will be 'instructed' by the organiser which course and the number of people you are expected to provide for.  The meal is followed by drinking and talking, sometimes well in to the night. However some members choose to eat out in a hotel or visit the pub if they happen to be near-by.

Sunday

The next day follows the same format as Saturday, but usually with a later start and an easier walk planned. One returns home late afternoon suitably knackered but refreshed for the start of a new week!
