Main Walk
2 Munros, 18 miles (29 km), 1200m ascent, walk duration 9½
hrs with stops
We start at Linn of Dee (063898) and follow
the track to Derry Lodge and then head W along Glen Luibeg to Luibeg
Bridge (013943). From here we climb W up to the summit of Carn a’Mhaim and
then follow the ridge NNW, before climbing again NE alongside the Tailor’s
Burn (Allt Clach nan Taillear), turning NW on the plateau to reach the
summit of Ben Macdui (988989), the second highest mountain in the country.
The descent is SE along Sron Riach, picking up the outward route at Luibeg
Bridge back to Linn of Dee.
Alternative Walk
2 Munros, 17 miles (28 km), 950m ascent, walk duration 9
hours with stops
A slightly shorter alternative is to climb
