Welcome to our April walk, Auchronie to the Summit of Mount Keen then through to Glen Muick. The summit of Mount Keen can be bypassed which reduces the height ascended and makes the walk a good bit easier.

Walk distance 22km (13.5 miles), ascent 937m. Missing out the summit reduces the ascent to 746m and the distance by one mile.

Minibus / coach leaves at 07:00 from the corner of Midstocket Road and Gordondale Road.

We take the coach to the car park in Auchronie, then head north west along Glen Mark on good paths. At the Queen's Well we track along the Ladder Burn, still on good paths and then up to the summit of the most easterly munro in Scotland, Mount Keen, 939m. There is a bypass path to the west for those who want an easier time. We then walk west on higher ground, to Head of Black Burn, 746m, then to Hare Cairn, 680m. From here we descend on paths to Glen Muick and the waiting coach.

We will stop in Ballater on the way home for a quick refreshment.
